Jozef Niemtus, a DJ from Birmingham, created the DJ name ‘Jimbles’ as an ode to his childhood love Jimmy Neutron. He says that there was an episode that described ‘Jimmy Neutrons weird little cousin’ as having the name Jimbles Neutron, the idea sprung from there and is now ‘an ongoing joke’ with the people that follow him.
Jimbles describes his music as ‘fast and energetic’, a type of dance ‘with a focus on experimental bass and drums.’
He has played intimate gigs in both Mosely and Lichfeild, a favourite venue of his being Scales (Area 24).
He says he got started when his mum bought him starter decks so that he could learn the basics. “I’ve always been interested in electronic music, I went on to buy a proper set of decks when I realised how much I loved it.”
He says his inspiration for his music comes from Kings of the rollers, and his inspiration otherwise, of course, comes from his mum.
Jimbles says that the most memorable moment in his DJ life was when he went to his first ever rave, “before then I had no idea what sort of music I wanted to do, that night was the first time I was subjected to drum and bass, and I fell in love.”
The best piece of advice he has ever been given (as a DJ) is ‘don’t use the sync button’ as it is, in his eyes, cheating your way through the DJ scene.
His music career was driven by his passion for the sound, he says that in five years time he would like to be “DJing with other big names in the scene, touring the country and pumping out EP’S”.
