Sleuth Bears Farewell Weekend Bash

The last chance to see all the big sleuths was this weekend (Friday October 6 to Sunday October 8) as they all came together to raise money for the Birmingham Children's Hospital charity.

The farewell weekend saw over 10,00 people gather in Eastside Park to bid farewell to all the Big Sleuths that have been spotted around Birmingham for the past few months. The whole community was welcome to take part in any way they could, with craft stalls, entertainment, face painting and official Big Sleuth merchandise for sale throughout the day.

The event raised over £15,000 through sales of tickets, merchandise and donations, with the help of The Big Sleuth raffle, where bidders were given the chance to win a 3ft paint-your-own Sleuth.

This money is already having a big impact on the patients and their families as Ella, age 7 and her parents said they were "touched that so many people came out to help patients that they dont even know, it's incredible."

Louise McCathie, director of fundraising at Birmingham Children's Hospital said: "We will be so sad to see the bears prowl but are delighted we were able to give the giant sleuths one final farewell before their departure."

In light of the farewell weekend, the bears will be prepared for a grand auction on Thursday, October 12, hoping to bring the total money raised for Birmingham Children's Hospital to £500,000.

Tickets to this event are £5 for adults, £3 for 4-16 year olds and under 4s go free, available from the Big Sleuth Website.
